About

My name is Joe Cho 曹念祖.

I am a multidisciplinary artist born in Hong Kong and currently residing in Toronto, Canada. Growing up in Hong Kong—a vibrant fusion of Eastern and Western cultures—deeply influenced my character and artistic vision, allowing me to blend the best of both worlds in my work.

I am primarily self-taught in painting & my journey into the design world was a natural progression from my love of painting. Mastering perspective through my art provided valuable insights that I’ve applied throughout my career as an interior designer. Some of my most notable projects include designing for AT&T and General Electric in Hong Kong, as well as the Director’s Office for the Scarborough Board of Education in Canada.

I’m truly grateful to be a designer who has the ability to shape the world around us and a painter who captures the world within a frame. These two roles share profound similarities in how they interpret, mold, and communicate ideas through visual mediums, seamlessly coexisting.

After my retirement from full-time design profession, I have concentrated into water-colour & ink painting & member of 粵港澳大灣區水墨概念協會. My art studio in Markham, ON will soon be opening within next year.

Let me show you the world through my eyes.
