Makimono is a modern Japanese restaurant for the chic urbanite who wants the feel of a sumptuous lounge within a delicious dining experience. In furthering the client directives of creating a sophisticated corporate image, we were inspired by the name of Makimono (meaning Japanese art scroll), and united the space throughout by a circular motif. In featuring a monochromatic dark brown colour scheme for the majority of the space, the central hanging golden roll sculpture and the sushi bar are the focal point of visual attraction for customers. The sculpted dark wooden beams streamline the users eye to run along the length of the restaurant, and provide a sense of order within the wide space for the viewer. Makimono provides visual interest with dramatic sculptures and colour scheme to create the environment for a sophisticated dining experience.
